Tetra Tech has been helping communities for over a decade by reviewing local codes and identifying barriers to the implementation of green infrastructure (GI) and low impact development (LID). The tool draws on this expertise to create a comprehensive checklist to identify how policies support GI/LID, but also how it can discourage GI/LID either directly or indirectly through language and provisions. Additionally, the tool can help identify where language could be added to support climate resilience. The GI/LID techniques evaluated include small scale approaches like downspout connection to more comprehensive approaches like green streets or the preservation of open spaces.
